Police investigating the report of an attempted vehicle hijacking in Saintfield last night (Friday, 5th February) are appealing for information and witnesses.

At 10:45pm, police received a report that approximately 10 minutes earlier a woman driving along Listooder Road was approached by a man standing in the middle of the road, at the junction of Old Grand Jury Road. The man is reported to have approached the vehicle and ordered the female driver to get out.

Sergeant Nigel Donnelly said: "Thankfully, the woman managed to drive away, and she was uninjured, but this was a frightening experience for her.

"Our enquiries in this incident are continuing, and I would appeal to anyone travelling on Listooder Road between 10:30pm and 10:40pm, and who saw any suspicious activity or anything out of the ordinary, to call police. I would also appeal to anyone with information about this incident to get in touch with us by calling 101 and quote reference number 2050 of 05/02/21."
