A woman has received treatment in hospital after being attacked by a dog in Derry-Londonderry.
It happened in a green space in the Glen area earlier today.
The dog was described as being medium sized and of a white-Grey colour.
It’s unclear if it was a stray, but Council Dog Wardens are investigating.
A spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council said that "officers will investigate the incident and would ask anyone who witnessed this attack to contact Council’s Dog Control Service."
The spokesperson reminded the public "that any dog, regardless of its breed, can cause fear and alarm, or even serious injury, if its behaviour is 'out of control'. If a dog does injure a person attacked, the dog owner could be sentenced to two years' imprisonment and a £5,000 fine."
Adding that "All incidents involving dog bites on people, serious injury to another animal, or dangerous dogs must be reported to Council’s Dog Control Service on 02871 253253 or e mail dogcontrol@derrystrabane.com."
