Young people involved with a project to refurbish a bus shelter in Portadown through graffiti have been praised by the PSNI.

It was part of a scheme suggested to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council by a police officer.

At a September Council meeting, it was agreed to give the project the go ahead and that Killicomaine Residents' Association would organise for young people to get involved to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.

Councillors were informed at the time, “In order to help reduce these incidents and to engage with the young people who are involved, the PSNI Neighbourhood Policing Team are proposing an art engagement project.

"This will include issue based workshops and an art project on the council-owned bus shelter.”

In a facebook post, a PSNI officer posted the finished product saying "what an achievement in such a short period of time! To say I'm proud is an understatement.

"Not forgetting the most important people involved, the young people who turned up every day to learn about the different techniques and create something for the whole community to enjoy! I hope to continue working with these young people who are a credit to their community."
