The total collapse of the Stormont Assembly could be prevented today if MPs approve legislation in the Commons this afternoon.
The Northern Ireland Bill would allow the Assembly to continue to operate in the current crisis without an Executive.
Meanwhile MLAs will meet in plenary session at Stormont today for the first time since the resignation last week of First Minister Paul Givan.
