A 19-year-old man has been charged after allegedly spitting in the face of a Garda member and claiming he had coronavirus.
The incident happened in Cork in the early hours of Sunday when gardai were attending a domestic incident at the Deanrock estate in the Togher area in the south of the city.
The accused is alleged to have become aggressive with gardai as he left his home.
In the proceeding incident, he allegedly spat at the Garda member and made the claim about Covid-19.
He was arrested at the scene and taken to Bridewell garda station, where he was later charged.
The man was due to appear at a special sitting of Anglesea Street District Court on Sunday afternoon.
