Two people have been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man in west Belfast.
A 28-year-old man sustained a number of injuries including a suspected fracture to his arms and cuts to his arm and head, after being attacked by two men armed with a wheel brace and a machete.
It happened in the Divis Street area at around 8.30pm last night.
The victim was taken to hospital for injuries, while, the suspects made off in a black coloured BMW car that was driven by a woman.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
They both remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Dane is appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who has information that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference 1800 10/05/20.
