I'm A Celebrity bosses 'consider basing show in Wales and Australia in alternate years'

ITV chiefs are said to be thinking about the possibility of basing 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' in Wales one year and Australia another year, if the 20th series goes down well with viewers.

'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses are said to be considering hosting the show between Australia and Wales in alternate years - if the new series goes down well.

The programme usually takes place Down Under in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, but ITV were forced to relocate this year to Gwrych Castle, in north Wales, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic - and producers are said to have asked about the possibility of renting the Abergele site again in 2022.

A castle source said: "It’s been really challenging for everyone involved just to get the show on air this year, but it’s given producers a chance to reflect and take stock more than usual.

"They’ve loved trying new things with a different location and the idea of having alternate years has been discussed."

If such potential plans get the green light then the show's hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, could be heading back to Australia next year.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "It means that next year Ant and Dec would be back in the traditional jungle, before returning to Wales again the following year."

But ITV's decision is said to "depend a lot" on how the public react to the new-look programme's 20th series - which begins on Sunday (15.11.20) - following the show's re-location.

This year's series will see the likes of Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah, former 'EastEnders' stars Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer, 'Coronation Street' legend Beverley Callard, and TV presenter Victoria Derbyshire among the campmates aiming to be crowned the show's first ever King or Queen of the Castle.
