Peter Kay is returning to the BBC for a Christmas special.

The 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Car Share' star will be joining BBC Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright for a festive show reflecting on his childhood favourite songs and TV shows, his obsession with television and his memoir 'TV: Big Adventures on the Small Screen'.

The programme will air on December 3 as part of a Superstar Sunday for BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

Peter said in a statement: "What an early festive treat it was for me to chat to broadcasting legend Steve Wright.

"I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope everybody else does too. Feliz Navidad."

Steve added: "I am Peter’s biggest fan and I’m also pleased to call him my friend so please tune in for this very special radio programme.”

The BBC confirmed 'Steve Wright’s Peter Kay Christmas Special' will air from 10 till 11am as he reflects on how "his perseverance and passion for the small screen set him up for a career in comedy".

Meanwhile, immediately followed Peter's special, 'The Micheal Ball Show' will run for two hours as the host is joined by Barbra Streisand and Nicole Scherzinger for two special interviews.

He said: "I feel very lucky to be speaking to two of the world’s most loved singers on my Sunday morning show.

"I’m looking forward to chatting to Barbra about her incredible new book, as well as hearing about her childhood, her struggles with stage fright, and her love for cooking!

"I will be quizzing Nicole about her stunning portrayal of Norma Desmond that’s currently wowing the West End, her life in London and whatever else takes our fancy.“

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, commented: “Superstar Sunday on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds will be very special indeed. Peter Kay speaking exclusively to our very own Steve Wright is Sunday morning gold, and Michael sitting down with Barbra Streisand and Nicole Scherzinger is sure to be a joyous listen!”

Both programmes are available on BBC Sounds for 30 days after their broadcast on Radio 2.
