'How the Other Half Lives' has been axed.

The documentary series - which explores the life of the super-rich across various parts of the world - was hosted by husband and wife duo Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, but has not aired any new episodes in four years and will not return now after the pandemic made it "impossible" for the crew to travel abroad.

Eamonn told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "Sadly, the series fell victim to the pandemic - it was just impossible to get across the world to meet very rich people - and there are no plans to revive the series now.

"But I do feel privileged to have been a part of it and to have met people in parts of the world that are no longer accessible.

"We got to spend time with some extraordinary people, including a billionaire and his wife in Ukraine and some of the richest people in Moscow.”

Across the course of five series and a Christmas special, the former 'This Morning' hosts visited a £20m apartment in London before shooting clay pigeons with a £100,000 hand-engraved shotgun, and Eamonn was seen flying a billionaire's private jet.

Upon the launch of the series in 2015, 'Loose Women' star Ruth - who has 21-year-old son Jack with Eamonn - joked that she always thought she and her husband were "doing alright" financially until she met some of the wealthy people for the programme.

She said: "We always thought we were doing alright then you see this wealth beyond your wildest dreams."

Eamonn added: "The fascination is how they made their money, how they spend it, and why when they get the money they don't just stop working."
