The Black Santa sit-out 2017 has been launched on the steps of Belfast's St. Anne's Cathedral.

The event was founded 41 years ago to raise funds for charities.

The Dean normally sits outside in the week leading up to Christmas.

A team of Canons will sit out this year, while Dean-Elect, Archdeacon Stephen Forde takes part for a day to learn the ropes - hence him sporting an "L" plate. 

Several charities will benefit from all the money raised and this will be distributed at a special service in February.

Last year almost £200,000 was raised - the highest total ever recorded.

This morning Heather Ferguson Brown stopped by to donate to the Black Santa annual appeal and she spoke to Q Radio:
