The Carlingford Ferry's maiden voyage has been postponed.
Its first cross border sailing between Greencastle and Greenore, across Carlingford Lough, was due to take place tomorrow.
It was then to be open to passengers and their vehicles from 7am on Friday, but in a statement, Scenic Carlingford Ferry said it was waiting for the delivery of navigational lights and fender.
"We are disappointed but not downhearted," says the statement.
Chief Executive Pamela Houston told Q Radio that unfortunately, the delay was unavoidable:
But Greencastle residents have said they've observed a 'rush job' to get everything completed on time.
The Carlingford Ferry is controversial locally with activists claiming it threatens wildlife, and that its impact on the environment has not been considered during the planning process.
