Concerns are growing for Martin McGuinness’ health after it emerged he’s spent the past two weeks in Hospital.
The former Deputy First Minister is battling a genetic heart condition which forced him to stand down from front line politics in January.
Members of the public were shocked as the veteran politician looked frail announcing his resignation.
Mr.McGuinness also blamed the fallout of the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, failure to implement an Irish Language Act and what he described as “DUP arrogance”.
There was a notable silence from the 66 year old online following this weekend’s election results.
Despite a strong Sinn Fein election there was little activity from Mr.McGuinness’ usually active twitter account.
His son did tweet appearing to suggest his father was happy with the results.
I know a man that's absolutely buzzing!!!! 🇮🇪
