A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life after a gun attack on a busy street in west Belfast last night.
Police say the victim was chased down the Springfield Road by a gunman and shot several times.
It happened just after half past seven. The suspect made off on foot.
The PSNI has condemned it as a reckless attack in broad daylight that endangered the lives of everyone in the vicinity.
A passing ambulance crew heard the shots, treated the victim on the pavement, then rushed him to hospital.
