Residents and visitors are encouraged to shop local next week.
This year’s Independents’ Day campaign takes place on 4 July.
Shoppers are asked to support independent retailers in the district.
The Independent’s Day campaign is being run in conjunction with Retail NI.
Mid Ulster District Council is supporting the event.
The district’s five centres - Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Maghera and Magherafelt - offer unrivalled shopping opportunities.
The Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Kim Ashton, stressed the importance of supporting local retailers.
“We are very fortunate in Mid Ulster to have such a vast and varied selection of independent retailers across our towns and villages. Independents’ Day acts a timely reminder for us all to shop local and support our local traders,” she says.
She says for every pound spent with local independent retailers, 70p benefits the community, compared to as little as 5p when shopping at retail multiples.
“I hope residents of Mid Ulster fully embrace Independents’ Day and come out in force to support their local retailers on this day and continue to do so long afterwards!”
