Staff shaken after armed robbery in Ballynure

A man with a suspected firearm has robbed a shop in Ballynure.

He got away with cash and cigarettes last night on Main Street.

No-one was injured but the PSNI says staff members have been left shaken.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of commercial premises in Ballynure last night, Tuesday 26 December. 

"It was reported that at around 6.50pm a man, carrying a suspected firearm, entered the premises on Main Street and demanded money from the till and cigarettes. 

"The male made off on foot in the direction of Carrickfergus Road, Ballynure with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. The male is described as being approximately 5’ 11” tall, of slim build and was wearing a black coloured jacket, blue jeans and white coloured trainers. 

"No one was injured during the robbery however, staff members have been left shaken. 

"Detective Constable Robinson is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information which could assist with the investigation, to contact detectives in Antrim on 101 quoting reference number 885 of 26/12/17. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
