Families in Derry-Londonderry have been evacuated from their homes during a security alert.

It's after a suspicious object was spotted in the the Ederowen Park area of the city shortly after 9 last night.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Sandra Duffy spoke to Q Radio News from the scene.

“A number of houses have been evacuated and this alert is expected to continue throughout the night. It’s very upsetting for many of the elderly residents and those with young families caught up with all this disruption on a freezing cold winter night. Meanwhile, Father-of-three Liam McCloskey was evacuated with his family, the youngest of whom is only 10-months old:

10-month-old Seanin is sick but had to be taken from her bed tonight and evacuated out into freezing conditions during a security alert in Derry-Londonderry.
