Cristian Romero transfer news: Inter Milan interested in signing Tottenham captain during summer window

Inter Milan are interested in signing Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, according to Sky in Italy.

It is understood that any deal for the Argentina defender would be a financially complex one for the Italian champions.

Inter want to sign a central defender this summer and Romero is one of their targets for the position, along with John Stones, who is a free agent after leaving Manchester City and has interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

There is an expectation that Spurs would allow Romero to depart this summer if the right offer arrives. He is under contract until 2029.

The 28-year-old missed the end of last season due to a knee injury and received criticism from supporters when he appeared to be set to watch his boyhood club Belgrano play River Plate in the Argentina Primera Division Apertura final instead of being at Tottenham's crucial last game against Everton.

Romero did attend the final game of the season in which Spurs secured Premier League survival.

He has made 124 appearances for the club over five seasons, scoring 12 goals and being shown four red cards in the Premier League.

Inter also want to sign a full-back in this window and Romero's club-mate Djed Spence has been one of their targets.

However, the interest in a move for Spence appears to have lost some momentum of late. He remains on the list, though, along with Monaco's Vanderson and Feyenoord's Givairo Read.

De Zerbi wants two new Tottenham forwards

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi says the club needs to sign two players in attacking positions this summer.

Spurs have already spent £237m on six new signings, smashing their club record by buying Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for £100m, along with £85m on Mateus Fernandes and £52m on Jan Paul van Hecke.

Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have also joined on free transfers and De Zerbi wants more additions.

"The target now is to complete the attacking positions," he said.

"We want the first target, the first level, because anyway we are already important players, but I think to start the new project we need another couple of important players, for sure."

De Zerbi added: "It's not finished yet, our transfer market window. We have to finish, we have to bring another couple of, maybe more, maybe not less, but a couple of players."

Juventus considering Vicario move

Juventus are once again considering Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as an alternative to top target Emi Martinez, according to Sky in Italy.

Work has begun to explore the conditions of a potential deal for Parma's Zion Suzuki.

There is currently a gap in valuation, but it is not believed to be big enough to derail the potential transfer as things stand.

Juve intend to revisit their interest in Vicario to strike a deal on the best possible terms for them.

Vicario, who is expected to leave this summer, has not travelled with Spurs on their pre-season tour due to a "minor injury".

In his press conference, Roberto De Zerbi, the Spurs boss, said: "Vicario is injured, not a big injury, but he needs to stay one week in London."

De Zerbi: Spurs must find solution for Bergvall

De Zerbi has not spoken to Lucas Bergvall about his future but says Spurs must find a "new solution" for the midfielder if he wants to leave.

Sky Sports News understands the Sweden midfielder is determined to move on this summer. Nottingham Forest remain at the table for him, while Newcastle have also held talks about figures with Spurs.

Sky Sports News has been told there has been no attempt to convince Bergvall to stay at Spurs despite sources at the club insisting they do not want to sell.

De Zerbi has made it clear he only wants players who are happy to be at Spurs in his squad for the coming season.

Asked about speculation with Bergvall and if his inclusion in the pre-season squad is an indication about his future, De Zerbi said: "I have not spoken with Lucas yet. I will in the next days and we will make the best decision for the club, for Lucas, for me, for every one of us. Without problems, Lucas is a big, big talent.

"There will be a big competition to play because at the end, I think we will be two players for each position. If he wants to stay, I will be happy. Otherwise, we have to find a new solution with Johan Lange, with Vinai. It's not my business after the decision to leave."

Kudus 'very close' to returning from injury

De Zerbi also revealed Mohammed Kudus is "very close" to returning to action.

The winger has been out with a muscle issue since early January.

"Kudus is very close," De Zerbi said. "I think when we come back to London he will be available to start working with us. It's a great thing for us. Kudus is another important player."

De Zerbi also gave an update on goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Dejan Kulusevski.

"Vicario is injured, not a big injury, but he needs to stay one week in London," he said.

"Kulusevski, we have to see in the next couple of weeks. He's another important player. After one season, one complete season, without a game, we have to analyse better and better, don't take risks, first of all for him and then for us."
