The PSNI says an AK47 assault rifle used for a murder bid in north Belfast last week had been used previously to attack police. 

A young officer was shot in the arm by a dissident gunman outside a petrol station on the Crumlin Road last Sunday. 

Police say the New IRA fired 10 shots from the other side of the road hitting cars and a shop with a number of children inside.

A 14 year old boy has gone in to kidney failure after he's suspected of taking drugs.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Holywood in County Down on Saturday.

Police say he's thought to have taken half a tab of an unknown substance known as darth vaders.

A 17 year old boy has been arrested and is being questioned by detectives.

Six people have been killed and eight are injured after a shooting at a mosque in Canada's Quebec City during evening prayers.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has described it as a "terrorist attack on Muslims".

The building's now been evacuated - and two people have been arrested.

The Taoiseach will meet the Prime Minister to discuss Brexit when Theresa May visits Dublin later today.

The main focus of their talks will be on how they can maintain the common travel area between the North and South.

The upcoming election in Northern Ireland will also be on the agenda.

British people with dual citizenship will be exempt from Donald Trump's travel ban.

The president's team has told the Foreign Office those who have shared nationality with one of the mainly Muslim countries affected will not be stopped from entering the US.

But those travelling to America directly from one of the listed nations will still face extra checks.

A prominent Republican is to due to find out if he's successfully appealed his tax evasion conviction.

Thomas ‘Slab’ Murphy from Hackballscross in Co Louth was jailed for 18 months following a trial at a court in Dublin.

However, he is hoping to overturn the ruling that was made last November, challenging the conviction and the sentence.
